Clinical Manager

Clinical Manager comprises three modules: Clinical Audit, Clinical Risk & Medicines Management. Clinical Audit contains a comprehensive library of pre-authored searches providing in depth analysis for a range of disease areas including primary & secondary prevention of CVD, Diabetes and childhood immunisations. Bespoke searches can be easily incorporated to help monitor Local Enhanced Services (LES). Current LES searches for PCTs include NHS Health Checks, COPD, Mental Health and End of Life and pallative care.

Clinical Risk filters those patients who have a high risk of developing CVD if left untreated. The programme filters all 40-74 year old adults as recommended by the NHS Health Checks programme (http://www.improvement.nhs.uk/NHSHealthCheck) and assesses their risk of developing CVD. Clinical Risk enables you to list these patients by demographics or risk and call them in for a NHS Health check.

In Scotland Clinical Risk supports ASSIGN, the cardiovascular risk score chosen for use by SIGN (Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network) and Scottish Government Health Directorates, to prioritise the prevention of cardiovascular disease (http://www.sign.ac.uk/pdf/sign97.pdf).

Medicines Management helps practices identify patients who are not being optimally treated. Searches around the "Better Care Better Value" indicators are available. Bespoke searches can be incorporated to monitor local initiatives. An example includes a search to find patients with dementia who are taking antipsychotic medications for longer than 12 weeks.

Clinical Support has continued to evolve and now features intelligent prompts to help the practice in delivering the Quality and Outcomes Framework components of the GMS contract. Clinical Support facilitates local enhanced services such as the Glasgow Chronic Disease Management (CDM) programme with dedicated data entry templates which are fully integrated with the practices' clinical systems.


Practice Comparison for PCOsPCT Audit Solutions

MSD Informatics provides a number of software solutions to assist practices and PCOs audit and manage patients. Using Clinical Manager, practices are able to export anonymised data to the PCO where the Practice Comparison, a web-based application allows comparison of individual practices or clusters against any of the pre-authored or bespoke searches provided with the software. Pre-authored dashboard reports are available for a range of areas including ethnicity reporting, flu reporting and CVD Risk Stratification. Individual reports to meet the specific reporting requirements can be written for the PCT or PBC.
