Clinical Support (originally CDSS) has been in use in GP practices in  since 1999. Clinical Support is designed to support the clinical team during consultations to provide evidence-based prompts to improve patient care. Currently the software can be integrated with GPASS GP clinical systems.

Clinical Support has continued to evolve and now features intelligent prompts and data entry templates to help the practice in delivering the Quality and Outcomes Framework components of the GMS contract

MSD Informatics has been working closely with Glasgow PCT to develop a new templates module within Clinical Support which enhances the functionality of the existing version The new Templates have an Advanced Authoring Module which allows the PCT and advanced users to design templates outside of the Clinical Support application. The new templates are saved in an XML format so that they can be viewed and edited within a Windows compatible browser. Enhanced features include: Style Sheets with built in Fonts, Display Boxes and graphics which can all be pre-set before building the templates

The ASSIGN Risk Calculator can also be integrated within the Templates and is also available within Clinical Support for GPASS Practices.
